My kid is allergic to deodorant.. Breaks out bad.. any suggestions?

My son is just beginning to use deodorant. We have tried several differnt brands, non-scented, he breaks out in a HUGE painful red rash each time. He is in gym class, and he NEEDS his deodorant. Any suggestions? Know of any gentle products?

Oh, that is a tough one. I had the same problem. For a while I used a deodorant rock, it was some kinda natural dodorant made with salt. It didn't cause me to break out, however it doesn't work as well as other deodorants. Now I have found that Dove works for me doesn't cause me to break out and they have an unscented one too, however I can imagine that your son wouldn't want to bring Dove to school. I had one friend who had a problem with deodorant too and got something from the pharmacy that she dabbed on that worked really well. Unfortunately I don't remember what it was but it was the active ingredient found in most deodorants. Its a very difficult situation, as I well know. Good luck to your son.
Reply:I can't use right guard, it breaks me out. I used Degree spray for a long time and it was fine. Now I use Old Spice High Endurance blue gel roll on. It never breaks me out. I have pretty sensitive skin, and I notice the trick is to not use too much at once, and also make sure I am completely dry before I put any on after getting out of shower.
Reply:Okay hey I dont know what it is called but im sure someone does..they make a deoderant for those situations...I forget what its called..but my mother taught me an old trick on staying umm not so stinky was to attach those fabric sheets in my arm pit or the shirt...but Talk to a Pedometrist (skin doctor)...they can deffinitly point you in the right direction
Reply:try using dettol deodorant shower...
Reply:i have the same problem, the trick is to not use anything gel based. try "Edge"
Reply:Try baby powder. I like Amens brand better than Johnson %26amp; Johnson.
Reply:Try Tom's of Maine. It's all-natural. Places like Whole Foods or The Vitamin Shoppee sells it.

Umm.. other than that.. have him just use powder.
Reply:Go to the Naturals section of your grocery. They have a natural deodorant spray (Cost $2.99) made from alum. I cannot remember the name. But it is packaged in a blue bottle.
